Do oxygen bars really provide benefit as they claim that they would?
The latest rage in the spa/salon industry has been the oxygen bars. So many of them have sprouted up like mushrooms suddenly. These bars offer customers purified, scented oxygen through a nasal hose with a relaxed atmosphere usually accompanied by soothing background music. This idea was first said to have taken off in Japan, Mexico and South America, with all of these regions notorious for its polluted air. An increase in physical energy and stamina, enhanced concentration and clearer thinking, reduced stress, reduction of symptoms of headaches and hangovers, an increase in metabolism have all been reported as benefits of the sessions at these oxygen bars. Further, it is said that Oxygen provides enhanced absorption rates of vitamins and minerals, and healthier - younger looking skin. Naturally, with all these benefits to be gained, there has been no dearth in the number of people lining up to have a session at one of these bars.Although these bars do offer some respite from the polluted air found in large cities, there are many who believe that it doesn't offer much more than what a building or car with an air filtration system does. Moreover, people with respiratory problems can have their conditions worsened by taking excessive oxygen. Thus, there has been no clear verdict on whether these oxygen bars are beneficial or not in the long run. The jury is still out.
