As the age progress, it is quiet natural that defects start to occur in the eye.People who wear contact lenses are also bound to get eye infection at some point of their lives. This is mostly caused by the bacterial buildup from constantly wearing the lenses without proper cleaning of the lenses. Pink eye and Blepharitis are some of the most common eye infections. Another eye infection most commonly found in the poorer countries is Trachoma. It spreads quickly and can even lead to blindness without proper treatment. To our good fortune, most of the common eye disorders do not require any treatment or can be managed by self-treating. There are umpteen number of over the counter drugs available these days to treat most of the common eye infections. But they do cause certain side-effects like dryness, itching, or excessive watering of the eye. In some cases, it has been reported that without proper usage, they have even led to a blinding condition. There are some eye infections that require a doctor's immediate attention. Thus, it is best to seek an eye care professional for advice on type and treatment of the eye infection in most cases.
