Dry eyes-Causes and Symptoms

One of the most sensitive parts of our human body are our eyes. It is a complex organ. Hence, lots of issues and problems can occur. One such common problem associated with our eyes is the Dry Eye Syndrome. Our eyes are dependent on the flow of tears to maintain constant moisture and lubrication, that in turn ensure proper vision and good comfort. Dry eyes occur when there is an imbalance in the tear system.Persistent dryness, scratching and burning in your eyes are signs of dry eye syndrome. These symptoms alone may be enough for your eye doctor to diagnose dry eye syndrome. But sometimes he or she may want to measure the amount of tears in your eyes. A thin strip of filter paper placed at the edge of the eye, called a Schirmer test, is one way to measure. Some people also experience a "foreign body sensation," the feeling that something is in the eye.And it may seem odd, but sometimes watery eyes can result from dry eye syndrome, because the excessive dryness works to overstimulate production of the watery component of your eye's tears. Dry eye can also be caused by the drying out of the tear film. This can be due to dry air created by air conditioning, heat, or other environmental conditions. Other conditions that may cause dry eyes are: The natural aging process, especially during menopause. Side effects of using certain medications such as antihistamines and birth controlpills. Diseases that affect the ability to make tears, such as Sjogren's syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis and collagen vascular diseases also causes dry eyes.

Some more tips to lose weight

In our last post we were looking at some of the simple steps that can be taken to lose weight. In this post, we look at some other simple steps that can be taken to reduce weight without going for expensive diet pills or other weight loss products in the market.
"Weight" it out. Just two 30-minute total-body weight-training sessions a week will strengthen and build the muscles you're working and increase your metabolism. The goal is to build lean muscle mass, which will result in a bigger calorie burn.Break it up. Only have time for half of your usual hour-long workout? Go anyway, or do two 30-minute workouts of cardio or weight training during different times of the day, Lewis says.Train for a marathon, minitriathion or backpacking adventure- To take the focus off weight loss and put it on gaining strength, speed and/or endurance, you must embark on any one of the above mentioned things. You'll lose weight naturally if you balance your calorie intake and stay committed to your training.Ward off exercise boredom -You can do this by alternating gym workout routines, trying new machines and classes (yoga, Spinning, Pilates, kickboxing) or heading outside for hiking, biking, etc.Listen to your body. If something doesn't feel right -- you experience muscle cramping, develop chest pains, become overly fatigued or winded, feel thirsty, lightheaded or dizzy -- stop and check it out. If rest doesn't seem to relieve your concern, talk to your doctor. That way you can catch potential health problems early rather than risk injury and lose all momentum.

Simple steps to lose weight

People concerned with their appearance most often target losing some of their excess weight. Antd the way they do is pretty varied. Most experts ask us to eat well and exercise. But, there are numerous products on the market that boast that they help a lot in losing weight. In fact, there are now so many products that we aren't sure about which of them do indeed help and which of them are just circulating duplicate claims. Instead of going for these products there are simple ways to try and lose weight. We look at some of them here. Eat nine servings of summer fruits and vegetables daily. Packed with vitamins, A, C and E, phytochemicals, minerals, carbs and fiber, produce is healthy, filling, and naturally low in calories and fat. Enjoy it at meals, snacks and before/after exercise to stay full, feel energized and lose weight.Use lowfat cooking techniques. Avoid frying and sauteing with butter and use slimmer techniques like steaming, baking, grilling (the barbecue is ideal for this) or stir-frying.Do at least 20 minutes of cardio four times a week. A short duration of high-intensity activity will elevate the heart rate for two to four hours. An hour of moderate hiking burns about 300 calories; an hour of moderate cycling, about 380. Or try a new sport (in-line skating, surfing) to break out and work muscles you don't normally target.

Quality Sideboard-to reduce the spread of germs

Apart from taking various steps to ensure that we stay healthy, we need to take certain necessary precautions to prevent the spread of germs and bacteria. One of the most basic steps and one often ignored by many, is the fact that the items that we use, while we are having dinner such as linen and tableware should be stored in a place where there isn't much chance for the bacteria or other germs to live and spread on them. It is here that the importance of quality sideboard come in.

One should be careful while choosing the sideboards to buy. We should try to cut down too much on the cost by going for cheap, quality less sideboards, that can affect us in the long run. One of the best places to buy quality sideboards is online where you can compare the prices and quality of various pieces of sideboards and decide between them. According to me, the best place to buy these sideboards online is at GoModern.

They sell quality sideboards made in Italy by European designers. They not only provide the best quality sideboards, but also the most attractive ones, thereby improving the appearance of your dining and living room as well.

Tips to improve eyesight

One of the greatest gifts that we as Humans, enjoy is our eyesight. It is therefore, to our benefit to take good care of it. Following are some tips to improve and maintain eyesight.Rub your palms together and lay them lightly on the eyes. The warmth from the palms will sooth the nerves and increase blood circulation.Eye stretching exercise - Close both eyes shut and then open them suddenly.Close your eyes and circulate them in all directions. Do this slowly but steadily. Concentrate on one eye at a time.Sun bathing is good for your eyes. Don't try to look at the sun directly. Exercise your eyes by looking both sides, up and down trying to allow as maximum sunlight.Make an effort to stare at something in the distance every 30-60 minutes for at least 30 seconds. This exercise helps our eye's ability to focus on distant objects instead of concentrating only on things near by.Nod your head from time to time to strengthen the muscles in your neck, which in turn helps in increasing the blood flow to the brain and eyes.Hold a chopstick and pencil at right angles. Have the eye travel along the horizontal stick to the intersection, then up the vertical pencil and back again to the starting point. Gradually slide the vertical pencil closer, each time letting the eye travel along the distance from starting point to intersection, to the tip of the vertical pencil and back again. Slide the upright pencil back and forth seven or eight times, always following it with the eyes.

Using Multifocal lens to overcome Presbyopia

One of the most common things associated with aging has been diminishing eyesight. Most of these people are affected by short-sightedness or Presbyopia. While most of their regular activities are not affected by Presbyopia, they tend to having problems reading newspapers, seeing text on the computer screen clearly, and as the problem worsens, even the items on a menu card. Most of them wear glasses to overcome this problem .Though many of them would prefer not wearing glasses for varied reasons, they had no alternative,at least up until now.
Bausch and Lomb have invented multifocal lenses which has greatly benefited such people. It helps people avoid having to wear reading glasses or any other type of glasses, as these could act as an impediment to several outdoor activities. On the other hand, these multifocal contact lenses help people to participate in all activities just like a person who isn't suffering from Presbyopia. Moreover, these lenses made of silicone hydrogel material that contains 36% water. This prevents inflammation of the eye and makes the whole process of wearing lenses very comfortable. The lenses are made in such a way that while you wear these multi-focal lenses, you get a clear view of everything irrespective of the distance – close or far. Furthermore, they come in all colors and you can choose pupil color to give it a natural look.

Some tips to lose weight

I was browsing the net and I came across a few tips to lose weight. Unlike most other tips, almost of these tasks can be carried out easily and with minimal costs. So, I thought I would pass on these tips so that those planning to lose weight can gain from this. Few of the tips are:

Drink plenty of water. Our body needs a lot of water so give in to water. Water is not just way to flush out toxin but if you have more water in your body you will generally feel healthier and fitter. This it self will discourage any tendency to gorge.

Stay away from sweetened bottle drinks. All the colas and fizzy drinks are sweetened with sugar and sugar means calories. The more you can cut out on these sweetened bottle drinks, the better for you.

Include in your diet things that contain more water like tomatoes and watermelons. These things contain 90 to 95 % water so that there is nothing that you have to lose by feasting on them. They fill you up without adding to the pounds.

Eat fresh fruit instead of drinking fruit juice. Juice is often sweetened but fresh fruits have natural sugars. When you eat fruit, you are taking in a lot of fiber, which is needed by the body, and fruits of course are an excellent source of vitamins.

Choose fresh fruit to processed fruits. Processed and canned fruits do not have as much fiber as fresh fruit and processed and canned fruits are nearly always sweetened.

Increase your fiber intake. Our body needs a lot of fiber. So try to include in your diet as many fruits and vegetables as you can.

Dehydration-Causes & Symptoms

Most of the people living in hot, arid regions have had to contend with Dehydration at some point of their lives. It is causes when the amount of water leaving the body is greater than the amount being consumed. The body is very dynamic and always changing. This is especially true with water in the body. We lose water routinely when we: breathe,as humidified air leaves the body, when we sweat to cool the body, and when we urinate or have a bowel movement to rid the body of waste products. In a normal day, a person has to drink a significant amount of water to replace this routine loss. If intravascular (within the blood vessels) water is lost, the body can compensate somewhat by shifting water from cells into the blood vessels, but this is a very short-term solution. Signs and symptoms of dehydration will occur quickly if the water is not replenished.Dehydration occurs because there is too much water lost, not enough water taken in, or most often a combination of the two.As the level of water loss increases, more symptoms can become apparent. The following are further signs and symptoms of dehydration: dry mouth, the eyes stop making tears, sweating may stop, muscle cramps ,nausea and vomiting and lightheadedness (especially when standing). The body tries to maintain cardiac output (the amount of blood that is pumped by the heart to the body); and if the amount of fluid in the intravascular space is decreased, the body has to increase the heart rate, which causes blood vessels to constrict to maintain blood pressure. This coping mechanism begins to fail as the level of dehydration increases. With severe dehydration, confusion and weakness will occur as the brain and other body organs receive less blood. Finally, coma and organ failure will occur if the dehydration remains untreated.

Health Care Products for the Elderly

Nowadays, in the modern world, most of us have migrated from the countryside to the cities in search of jobs, often leaving behind our grandparents. But, all of us are constantly worried about what might happen , if for instance, they fall and can't find assistance immediately. I was browsing the net recently when I came across Medical Alarm and all my worries in this regard have ceased to exist.

You might be wondering about what Medical Alarm is. It is a device created by BrickHouse Alert. It provides 24/7 assistance to elderly people. If they were to fall, it immediately sends out an alarm signal to the experts asking for assistance, without even requiring the elderly people to press an emergency button. Studies have shown that more than half of the senior citizens who suffer accidents are in no position to go in search of a button to press it and hence this is a major step forward for all these people.

While on this subject, I will also mention about another excellent product created by the same company, called GPS Tracking Bracelet. It essentially is a GPS device with a two way speaker phone, that helps elderly people who are travelling and in need for help. They can call for assistance and also tell the concerned people, where they exactly are.It is also very useful for people with Alzheimer's disease who often forget where they are and hence might wander somewhere and get lost, without this device.

Basic Diabetes Treatment

An important thing is to differentiate is between Type1 and Type2 Diabetes. Type 1 diabetes must be treated with insulin; if you have type 2 diabetes, you may not need to take insulin. This involves injecting insulin under the skin for it to work. Insulin cannot be taken as a pill because the digestive juices in the stomach would destroy the insulin before it could work. Scientists are looking for new ways to give insulin. But today, shots are the only method. There are, however, new methods to give the shots. Insulin pumps are now being widely used and many people are having great results.Patients with type 1 diabetes should have a diet that has approximately 35 calories per kg of body weight per day (or 16 calories per pound of body weight per day).Patients with type 2 diabetes generally are put on a 1500-1800 calorie diet per day to promote weight loss and then the maintenance of ideal body weight. However, this may vary depending on the person's age, sex, activity level, current weight and body style. More obese individuals may need more calories initially until their weight is less. This is because it takes more calories to maintain a larger body and a 1600 calorie diet for them may promote weight loss that is too fast to be healthy.Men have more muscle mass in general and therefore may require more calories. Muscle burns more calories per hour than fat. (Thus also one reason to regularly exercise and build up muscle!) Also, people whose activity level is low will have less daily caloric needs.

Buying Health care products online

Last week, I was trying to buy some health products for my family. It was then that I was reminded about the numerous bogus sites by my friend who was sitting nearby. He was telling me about how it is now almost impossible to find an authentic site for buying products online. I told him about Shopwiki then. I went to show him about how good a site Shopwiki is by buying skin care products there.

He was surprised to find that the site was offering not only skin care products but almost anything and everything under the sun. It has something for almost all buyers on the net. The range of products being sold ranges from arts and crafts, electronics to jewelery & watches.

In short, Shopwiki is a kind of search engine for you when it comes to shopping. Once we specify our exact requirements, it searches the internet to find the best offers available online and provides us with these choices so that we can browse through only the best offers and not waste time on other offers. Moreover, you can also search the site, prices, brands, or by typing the name of the product. In addition to products prices, it also shows the details and definition of listed products, the usage, manuals, and many other useful guidelines.

Diabetes Diet

People often have the wrong misconception that if one has diabetes then that person has to strictly follow a special regimental diet for the rest of his/her life. While, this may be true for some, it certainly doesn't mean that you have to start eating special foods or follow a complicated diabetes diet plan. For most people, a diabetes diet simply translates into eating a variety of foods in moderate amounts and sticking to regular mealtimes. This means choosing a diet that emphasizes vegetables, fruits and whole grains. Consistency also is key, because your body responds to excess calories and fat by creating an undesirable rise in blood sugar. Rather than a restrictive diet, a diabetes diet is a healthy-eating plan that's naturally rich in nutrients and low in fat and calories. Your meal plan is an eating guide that helps you:Establish a routine for eating meals and choose the healthiest foods in the right amounts at each meal. If you stick to your meal plan and watch your serving sizes, you'll eat about the same amount of carbohydrates and calories every day. This helps control your blood sugar and your weight. On the flip side, the more you vary what you eat — especially the amount of carbohydrates — the harder it is to control your blood sugar. If you're already eating a variety of healthy foods, you may simply need to adjust portion sizes to keep your blood sugar (glucose) under control.

Reducing the Stress

Recently, I was talking to my entrepreneur friend and he was telling about how much stress he has been experiencing recently in trying to find a good web host provider. We live in such a world where the importance of designing and maintaining a good company website grows by the day. So, I could sort of understand how stressed he must be when he told me that he hasn't been able to decide between web host providers. It was then I told him about Web Hosting Geeks. They not only provide good reviews of the various website hosting providers and thus help us in finding the best of the web host providers on the net, they also provide web hosting services of their own. Besides, they also help us in providing dedicated servers for our websites. People can find different offers based on their needs. I was surprised to find that they have packages to suit almost any needs. For example, for those of us who are concerned about their carbon footprint, they tell us about some of the greenest web host providers out there, hence providing us with some relief about our role in saving the earth, since green web hosts use alternative / renewable energy, plant trees, recycling waste and purchase RECs to power their datacenters.

Some tips to prevent Jaundice

Earlier, we were talking about some of the causes of the disease Jaundice. Now we look at some simple ways to prevent Jaundice and what we should do to cure it, in case we do get Jaundice. It is now universally agreed that Phototherapy is the primary treatment for pathologic jaundice. The bilirubin pigment is converted to a safer form due to the high intensity of the light and hence it becomes easy to remove it from the body . Bright light can fade the pigments in your couch; in much the same way, special fluorescent-like lights can fade the unhealthy pigment in your baby.In addition to the phototherapy, it is important to keep the baby well hydrated and to identify and treat any underlying problems. When phototherapy is not reducing the bilirubin levels appropriately, a special type of blood transfusion (an exchange transfusion) is sometimes needed. This is quite uncommon. How can it be prevented? The important thing to prevent is kernicterus, toxic levels of bilirubin accumulating in the brain. Identifying pathologic jaundice and instituting treatment early will usually prevent kernicterus.Frequent feedings and avoiding dehydration can prevent jaundice for some babies.Beyond this, jaundice is a symptom of other problems that have their own prevention strategies.

Typhoid-Cures and Precautions

It is possible that even after you have recovered from Typhoid fever, you may still be carrying the bacteria for as long as years. Specific antibiotics such as chloramphenicol, ampicillin or ciprofloxacin are used to treat typhoid fever.Because the germ is passed in the feces of infected people, only people with active diarrhea who are unable to control their bowel habits (infants, certain handicapped individuals) should be isolated. Most infected people may return to work or school when they have recovered, provided that they carefully wash hands after toilet visits. Children in daycare, health care workers, and persons in other sensitive settings must obtain the approval of the local or state health department before returning to their routine activities. Food handlers may not return to work until three consecutive negative stool cultures are confirmed. A vaccine is available but is generally reserved for people traveling to underdeveloped countries where significant exposure may occur. Strict attention to food and water precautions while traveling to such countries is the most effective preventive method. Two basic actions can protect you from typhoid fever:Avoid risky foods and drinks.Get vaccinated against typhoid fever. It may surprise you, but watching what you eat and drink when you travel is as important as being vaccinated. This is because the vaccines are not completely effective. Avoiding risky foods will also help protect you from other illnesses, including travelers' diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, and hepatitis A.

Some facts about Typhoid

Typhoid fever is a disease caused by the bacterium Salmonella Typhi. It has been known to cause deaths in quite a few cases. It is common in the developing world, where it affects around twenty million persons every year. It can usually be treated and even prevented with antibiotics. People afflicted with typhoid fever carry the bacteria in their bloodstream and intestinal tract. In addition, a small number of persons, called carriers , recover from typhoid fever but continue to carry the bacteria. Both ill persons and carriers shed S. Typhi in their feces (stool). You can get typhoid fever if you eat food or drink beverages that have been handled by a person who is shedding S. Typhi or if sewage contaminated with S. Typhi bacteria gets into the water you use for drinking or washing food. Therefore, typhoid fever is more common in areas of the world where handwashing is less frequent and water is likely to be contaminated with sewage. Once S. Typhi bacteria are eaten or drunk, they multiply and spread into the bloodstream. The body reacts with fever and other signs and symptoms.Anyone can get typhoid fever but the greatest risk exists to travelers visiting countries where the disease is common. Occasionally, local cases can be traced to exposure to a person who is a chronic carrier.Typhoid germs are passed in the feces and, to some extent, the urine of infected people. The germs are spread by eating or drinking water or foods contaminated by feces from the infected individual.Symptoms may be mild or severe and may include fever, headache, constipation or diarrhea, rose-colored spots on the trunk and an enlarged spleen and liver. Relapses are common. Symptoms generally appear one to three weeks after exposure.

Vacations as Stress Relievers

People who work at high pressure jobs for extended periods of time have to find ways to relieve their tension from time to time. Studies have shown that vacations at regular intervals go a long way in distracting all the tension. A relaxed mind works far efficiently than one which is tense and confused.

Recently my friend told me about Myrtle Beach Golf Packages. At this place, one can combine dual purpose of visiting exotic beaches as well as play a lot of golf. Myrtle Beach Golf offers over 100 courses. Thus, it provides different challenges to different people. The difficulty of the courses range from amateur to professional.

Besides,Myrtle Beach Golf Vacations offer the additional advantage of providing scenic locations for women and children in your family to explore at leisure. Besides at Golf Myrtle Beach, you can also hire professional trainers to help initiate your children into this wonderful post. Thus, it can greatly help you to re-invigorate yourself.

Jaundice-Symptoms to look for.

Contrary to common misconception, Jaundice is not a disease.Rather it is a sign that can occur in many different diseases. It is actually the yellowish staining of the skin and the whites of the eyes that is caused by high levels in blood of the chemical bilirubin. The color of the skin and sclerae vary depending on the level of bilirubin. When the bilirubin level is mildly elevated, they are yellowish. When the bilirubin level is high, they tend to be brown.Bilirubin comes from red blood cells. When red blood cells get old, they are destroyed. Hemoglobin, the iron-containing chemical in red blood cells that carries oxygen, is released from the destroyed red blood cells after the iron it contains is removed. The chemical that remains in the blood after the iron is removed becomes bilirubin. The liver has many functions. One of the liver's functions is to produce and secrete bile into the intestines to help digest dietary fat. Another is to remove toxic chemicals or waste products from the blood, and bilirubin is a waste product. The liver removes bilirubin from the blood. After the bilirubin has entered the liver cells, the cells conjugate (attaching other chemicals, primarily glucuronic acid) to the bilirubin, and then secrete the bilirubin/glucuronic acid complex into bile. The complex that is secreted in bile is called conjugated bilirubin. The conjugated bilirubin is eliminated in the feces. (Bilirubin is what gives feces its brown color.) Conjugated bilirubin is distinguished from the bilirubin that is released from the red blood cells and not yet removed from the blood which is termed unconjugated bilirubin.

Residential Drug and addiction treatment center

Majority of us suffer from some addiction or other-whether we care to admit it or not. Not many of us are ready to take up serious steps to overcome these addictive habits. The few of us that do take up this task of quitting seriously, are faced with many challenges. Studies have shown that failure in trying to quit these bad habits are most often caused by temptation and the need to blend in. Therefore, it is necessary that if we take up this task of quitting these habits, then we need to visit Residential Addiction Recovery Center where we can be far away from these temptations.Cliffside Malibu is one suchResidential Drug Treatment Center. More and more of my friends are admitting themselves at its Inpatient Addiction Recovery Programs to progress further in their quest of quitting these bad habits for ever. They have realized the harm that these habits are causing to their body. Many of them have been able to successfully stay clear of their habits ever since and have vouched for the program's effectiveness in helping them in this regard. This particular center helps such people through alternative medicine, detox, individual therapy, group therapy and depression treatment. I am going to recommend this center to all of my friends who are in need of such centers and I suggest that you do the same.

Dyslexia

Sometimes, we see a child struggle with reading and we just assume that, that child is dumb or stupid. But, it could be the case that the child could be suffering from Dyslexia. It is a learning problem , that makes it tough to read and spell. Many famous, smart and talented people have suffered with dyslexia during their early years- Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Micheal Faraday, Tom Cruise, Orlando Bloom being some of them. With some help and a lot of hard work, a kid who has dyslexia can learn to read and spell.Dyslexia means that a person's brain has trouble processing letters and sounds. That makes it tough to break words into separate speech sounds, like b-a-t for bat. When it's hard to do that, it's really hard to connect speech sounds to different letters, like "buh" for b, and blend them into words. So a kid who has dyslexia will read slowly and might make a lot of mistakes. Sometimes he or she will mix up letters in a word, such as reading the word "was" as "saw."Kids who have dyslexia might get frustrated, angry, or sad because reading and spelling are so hard. They may not like being in a different reading group than their friends or having to see a special reading tutor. But getting this help is so important and will help them go on to do great things in life. Some of the most creative and successful people have dyslexia, but it didn't stop them from chasing their dreams!

Online Casino- A Stress Reliever

Intrigued by the title?Well, I was surprised as well when my friends told me about this. When you are working in the office continuously for long periods of time, you need to learn to relax yourself by diverting your attention from time to time. One of the things that you can do is go to these casinos. According to wiki, online casinos are the virtual versions of traditional casinos. Besides, acting as a stress reliever, you can get to avoid the journey and the huge crowds present at casinos. But, there is also a risk that you can lose your money by visiting fraudulent sites masquerading as online casino sites. Many of my friends have lost money in this way.To prevent this from happening, you need to know which sites are good. Casino Scandinavia helps us in this regard by providing us with a list of top casino sites. You can also find a list of top online casino games at Casino Scandinavia. Some of my favorite online casino games include Roulette, Slots, Blackjack,Poker and Casino Hold'em. I use Casino Scandinavia to frequently visit my favorite online casino. Thus, to provide you with some fun, in the middle of hectic work, you can visit Casino Scandinavia.

Schizophrenia-Tests,Prevalence and Treatments

Studies have shown that there are currently no laboratory test to detect this disease.Furthermore, individuals with Schizophrenia have been found to have a number of (non-diagnostic) neurological abnormalities.Schizophrenia is the fourth leading cause of disability in the developed world (for ages 15-44), and Schizophrenia is observed worldwide. Lifetime prevalence varies from 0.5% to 1.5%. The incidence of Schizophrenia is slightly higher in men than women. Negative symptoms (e.g., social withdrawal, lack of motivation, flat emotions) tend to predominate in men; whereas depressive episodes, paranoid delusions, and hallucinations tend to predominate in women.Antipsychotic medication shortens the duration of psychosis in Schizophrenia, and prevents recurrences (but psychotic relapses can still occur under stress). Usually it takes years before individuals can accept that they have Schizophrenia and need medication. When individuals stop their antipsychotic medication, it may take months (or even years) before they suffer a psychotic relapse. Most, however, relapse within weeks. After each psychotic relapse there is increased intellectual impairment.Antipsychotic medication usually prevents suicide, minimizes rehospitalization and dramatically improves social functioning. Unfortunately, even on antipsychotic medication, most individuals with Schizophrenia can't return to gainful employment due to the intellectual impairments caused by this illness (e.g., poor concentration, poor memory, impaired problem-solving, inability to "multi-task", and apathy).

Schizophrenia-Causes and Symptoms

Schizophrenia is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes a mental disorder characterized by abnormalities in the perception or expression of reality. This disorder, at some point in the illness, involves a psychotic phase (with delusions, hallucinations, or grossly bizarre/disorganized speech and behavior). Individuals with this disorder may develop significant loss of interest or pleasure. Likewise, some may develop mood abnormalities like inappropriate smiling, laughing, or silly facial expressions, depression, anxiety or anger. The individual may show a lack of interest in eating or may refuse food as a consequence of delusional beliefs. Frequently there are significant cognitive impairments (e.g., poor concentration, poor memory, and impaired problem-solving ability). Depersonalization, somatic concerns may occur and sometimes reach delusional proportions. Motor abnormalities (e.g., grimacing, posturing, odd mannerisms, ritualistic or stereotyped behavior) are also present sometimes.Onset of symptoms typically occurs in young adulthood. Studies suggest that genetics, early environment, neurobiology, psychological and social processes are important contributory factors.Further, some recreational and prescription drugs appear to cause or worsen symptoms. Current psychiatric research is focused on the role of neurobiology, but no single organic cause has been found. Due to the many possible combinations of symptoms, there is debate about whether the diagnosis represents a single disorder or a number of discrete syndromes. Despite its etymology, schizophrenia is not the same as dissociative identity disorder, previously known as multiple personality disorder or split personality, with which it has been erroneously confused.

Tips to improve eyesight

Experts have attributed many eye problems to stress, tension and laziness and devised a series of eye exercises to improve eyesight without resorting to lenses or surgery. The eye muscles need to be able to move freely in order to make the tiny adaptations necessary to center on the object of your vision. But, many people habitually strain their eyes by keeping them in a fixed position, 'staring' at a whole scene rather than allowing constant movement. There are exercises that teach you to relax the eye muscles and optic nerve and use memory and imagination to improve co-ordination between the eyes and the brain. One such exercise is 'Palming.' To rest and relax your eyes, sit comfortably in front of a table, resting your elbows on a stack of cushions high enough to bring your palms easily to your eyes without stooping forward or looking up. Close your eyes and cover them with your cupped palms to exclude light, avoiding pressure on the sockets. Breathe slowly and evenly, relaxing and imagining deep blackness. Begin by doing this for 10 minutes, two or three times a day. Another exercise is known as 'Swinging.' Relax and keep the eyes mobile. Stand up and focus on a distant point, swaying gently from side to side. Repeat 100 times daily, blinking as you sway. Blinking cleans and lubricates the eyes, which is especially important if you spend a lot of time in front of a computer.

Acidity and its causes

Most of us have experienced acidity at some point of our lives. Our stomach produces acid to digest the food that we eat. This is done in order to liquefy our dinner, from mash potatoes to meat. But a problem arises when these cells produce more acid than is needed by our stomach. When this happens, we will suffer from stomach acidity. Symptoms of stomach acidity include a burning sensation just above the stomach, or right below our breastbone, acid regurgitation causing a sour taste in the mouth. Acid regurgitation happens when one is lying horizontally on his/her bed. Acid regurgitation often leads to heartburn, or that pain near the heart area. Most of the times, acidity is not caused by a serious medical condition. A person experiences attacks of acidity a few times in a year or at times even just once in a year. Sudden onset of acidity is usually triggered by foods that he/she eats. Fatty and spicy foods are harder to digest than most food thus prompting the cells that pump acid to produce more acid than is necessary.Sudden onset of stomach acidity is also known as acute stomach acidity attack. This can easily be cured by taking over-the-counter (OTC) antacids to relieve the stomach from pain. However, there are acidity conditions that persist over a long time. This is known as a chronic acidity condition. Stress and underlying medical conditions are usually the causes of chronic stomach acidity.

Importance of consuming fruits and vegetables

Almost anyone who is slightly concerned about his diet knows about the importance of consuming fruits and vegetables on a daily basis. But, not enough people are following it in practice. Nutricians recommend that every person should eat at least five servings of fresh fruits & vegetables every day. In fact, one of the easiest steps that you can take to maintain a healthy lifestyle is to increase your consumption of fruits and vegetables. Weight loss using fruits

Modern times has seen a spurt in the propaganda that artificial dietary supplements can only help in weight loss. But, what many of us don't realize that Mother Nature has provided us with a natural weight loss drug as well. They are fruits! Surprised-so was I, when I first learnt about this fact. We all know that fruits contain minerals, vitamins, water, fibers and all the other essential elements required by our body. Keeping this in mind we can very well presume that fruits are essential for our diet. But, what we didn't know and what recent studies have proved is that the fruits also contain anti-oxidants in fruits that helps in weight reduction. Fruits do not contain any kind of chemicals or artificial flavors and are thus the best way to lose weight without any risks. One can eat fruits as much as one wants without being concerned about calories as they contain the most minimal of calories. Also the juicer fruits have more water in them , thus regulating the essential minerals throughout our body. Fruits can be had as an alternative as snacks instead of the addictive and fat increasing chips, chocolates etc. Fruits should be taken as a part of the weight loss program. It helps in reducing unwanted fat in a natural way. Eating fruits is a very healthy and easy habit to get into, which keeps you from becoming over weight. An excessive weight gives way to illness like high blood pressure and diabetes. If the right kind of fruit is consumed then the nutrients in them keep a check such illness. Hence it is vital to make fruits an essential part of the dietary regime.

Benefits of Vegetarianism

Vegetarianism is in vogue. More and more celebrities are converting to vegetarianism and this is focusing the world's attention on the benefits that being a vegetarian or a vegan has to offer. Although the idea is catching on, only a thorough objective analysis will enable one to stay a vegan for ever. As most vegetarian diets are low-fat ones (average vegetarian eats 25% fat less than a typical meat-eater), they usually effect in the lower Body Mass Index of an average vegetarian. This is probably the most visible of all benefits of vegetarianism and the main reason for many people to become a vegetarian.Other widely noted benefits of vegetarianism is decreasing the cholesterol level and subsequently, the decreased chance of suffering from a heart attack. However, due to the complexity of the heart attack issue, it is still sometimes argued that such decrease results from other factors than a vegetarian diet. One of the best-known benefits of vegetarianism is, however, not the low probability of having a heart attack, but the longer life expectancy. Vegetarians, on average, live a little longer than the rest of us. Whatever benefits and disadvantages vegetarian diets have, it seems that they give us a little more than they take away.

Parkinson Disease

Parkinson’s disease is a chronic disorder which affects the neuro-muscular activities of the human being. It is a degenerative disorder which hails its origin from a variety of unknown reasons which might also be genetic mutations, toxic substances and brain trauma. It might also be drug-induced. It curbs the motor movements of the individual leading to speech, autonomic and perception disorders. The symptoms of the disease typically vary for the individuals apart from motor disability. The Motor Symptoms include tremor, lack of rigidity and posture instability which includes special conditions like “Festination” and “Gate Freezing”. The Neuropsychiatric symptoms include head trauma ,cognitive and mood disturbances. The treatment of Parkinson’s disease requires a widespread education to both the individual and the family. The disease in the early stage can be treated physiotherapy and a nutritive diet. The later stages of the disease requires medications, surgery and deep brain simulation. Neurorehabilitation and neural transplantation have now proved to be effective in most recent considerations improving the mobility, flexibility, voice and speech function.

Three steps for weight loss

Recently, I came across this three step weight loss program. It proved to be very effective for me and I was able to significantly reduce my weight using this. So I wanted to spread this to as many people as possible. Hence, I am writing this post. The first principle is to forget about weight loss diets. A stable weight can never be achieved through diets as they are temporary in nature. The weight loss problem cannot be solved by restricting oneself to a strict diet for a few weeks and then return to normal food routine. This solution is very temporary and eventually one becomes overweight, thus proving that dieting is temporary and not a permanent solution. The second step is to maintain and supply proper nutrition to the body. People usually eat what they want and when they want. Food should be consumed as a fuel for the body. With this mental approach to eating, the food also becomes pleasurable to the body and also there is a check on the number of calories consumed. The third step is to have the proper physical exercises to supplement the body, along with the food consumed. The higher the physical activity level is, the lower will be the amount of free fatty acids present in the bloodstream. If done regularly for 20 to 30 minutes of the day then a huge difference will be felt by one which eventually results in weight loss.

Difference between Diabetes Symptom of Type 1 & Type 2

According to the experts, there are two types of diabetes; type 1 and type 2. The term of diabetes type has replaced several previous terms like childhood-onset diabetes, juvenile diabetes, and insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus which also known as IDDM. There are principal differences between symptom diabetes type 1 and type 2. Diagnosed patients with diabetes type 1 suffer from increased hunger that normally causes the fat problem and protein metabolism. Feeling serious thirsty that often occurs stimulate the patients with diabetes type 1 to consume more fluid to drink. However, rapid weight loss mostly happens to the patients though increasing food and meal intake. Extreme metabolic dysregulation characterized by the acetone smell of breath is present in patients with diabetes type 1, including a rapid and deep breathing, vomiting, confusion, and lethargy.
Symptom diabetes type 2 develops more slowly than type 1, causing unawareness of individual patients of being sick. Diabetes type 2 is characterized by the insulin resistance and decreased sensitivity. Since the danger of discharged insulin is getting worse, therapeutic injection of insulin for patient becomes the choice of medical treatment. There is a similarity of symptom diabetes type 2 with obese problem. That’s why improving physical activities, diet control, and weight loss are often recommended by the clinicians for patients with diabetes type 2. However, the impairment of diabetes type 2 is more deadly since it contributes to the emerging factors of causing death diseases like heart attack and kidney failure.

HbA1c diabetes for Early Diagnosis

Since there is no clear factor that caused diabetes mellitus, clinicians manage to know the early signs of disease emergence. Hemoglobin as an iron-containing protein in red blood cells that transport oxygen around the blood is used as the supporting clue of diabetes emergence. As diabetes mellitus begins with the failure of pancreas to produce insulin, a hormone that absorbs the glucose to be energy, sugar turn to accumulate in the blood vessel gradually. The accumulation of blood eventually sticks to the transporting oxygen, the so-called hemoglobin. The molecule which is produced by the sticking glucose in hemoglobin is recently called as HbA1c, or glycosylated hemoglobin. Most of clinicians and specialists believe that HbA1c diabetes helps define whether a patient is indicted with diabetes or not. Normally, clinicians find out that patients suffer from diabetes when there is certain complications side-effect like heart attack or stroke. Given the knowledge on HbA1c diabetes level, it is possible to diagnose the possibility of disease during early stage. The level of HbA1c is a measure whether somebody is free from diabetes or otherwise. For example, less than or equal to 7 percent HbA1c is considered healthy, between 7 and 8 percent is regarded fair enough though need physical activity improvement. Reaching 8 – 10 percent of HbA1c, our blood glucose level will be considered too much while above 10 percent HbA1c, a patient is positively indicted to diabetes mellitus.

The Positive Correlation between Routine exercise and diabetes

There are many positive correlations between routine exercise and diabetes. As diabetes is caused by the failure of body cells to respond insulin that converts the glucose to be energy, blood and urine are becoming the place to which sugar accumulate and build up. That’s why great amount of urination is inevitable. Abnormal functioning of blood finally stimulate metabolic dysregulations with the symptoms like rapid and deep breathing, vomiting, and confusion besides mental fatigue that often occurs. Increasing thirst and hunger fairly trigger self laziness to do activities that pump up the circulation of blood. In this regard, physical exercise help stimulate the blood to work better.
Daily exercise with 30 minutes minimum will contribute to 5-10 percent of weight loss according to the experts. This level weight loss can suggest 58 percent decrease in diabetes. Routine exercise is very beneficial for patients with pre-diabetes, call it diabetes type 1, to prevent from the worsening rapid development of diabetes symptoms. Furthermore, the positive correlations between exercise and diabetes are believed by the clinicians to be a helpful way to support the process of medical treatment for patients with diabetes type 2. If you were suffering from pre-diabetes, you would know what to do. Keep doing routine exercise to prevent from your diabetes to worsen.

The Horrible Diabetes side effects

Diabetes has been recorded as the sixth leading death disease in the US and the seventh in Canada. Besides the long process of medical treatment and therapy for patients, diabetes side effects are really detrimental and horrible. Diabetes mellitus can cause diabetic coma, a long period of unconsciousness due to an extreme level of sugar in the blood. As insulin cannot function normally to absorb sugar to be energy, the accumulation of glucose in the blood is inevitable leading to the blockage of large blood vessels. This stumbling block potentially leads to many cardiovascular problems like blood pressure, heart attack, and even deadly stroke. Cardiovascular disorders might happen also to non-diabetic patients. However, patients with diabetes mellitus are four times quicker than non-diabetic to have cardiovascular problems. Furthermore, when the blockage of tiny blood vessels occurs in the eye, it can trigger retina disease, known as diabetic retinopathy, which results in blindness.Loss of feeling especially in the lower legs of patients is one of horrible diabetes side effects. It is called numbness, an inability to feel or have sensation of feeling pain or irritation in the skin. As soon as the complications develop worse, medical treatment might suggest the amputation of patient’s leg or foot. Pregnant women with diabetes mellitus may suffer from acute dental disease very frequently. One of the most horrible diabetes side effects, however, is likely leading death complications disease.
